A The group to got to Torlich
B Documents are exchanged
A It is Rustbulj's opinion that the Party should attempt to enter Torlich as soon as possible, so that Bryn does not beat us too it. As Rustbulj has already passed on the approximate location to the Party, it is time to put together the expedition.
B Isiil Oômé is going to return to his lands, and will volunteer Woden for the job as he passes over the druidic scrolls. He also takes some of the Almanacs (1296, 1284 and 1356), for H'Spir Salit to research. Calhassan and Jarrys have taken possesion of the 'Animate Dead' scrolls. Coffchomi has a 'Protection from Undead'.
A Lucius, Ralpere, Karrak, Guerin, Polvyr, Jarrys, Whyrvan, Marinan, Woden, Brutzch, Giganticus, Vesquer, Willan, Coffchomi, Calhassan and, if he can be found, Modo, who is likely to come with bodyguards. The cover story will be that we have been dispatched to find a suitable place to found a temple under the terms of the will of a rich merchant.
A Passage out of Salsorme is arranged
A Using Ub's connections, passage is booked on the first ship leaving for Kirk, it leaves on 1st June. The ship is called the Seaguard, whose captain is called Ned.
A Willan goes to the tomb of Morris
A At the pressing of Jarrys, Wilan requests help at the tomb of Morris. Willan feels improved by the experince.
A Woden and Brutzch arrive in Salsorme
A Woden and Brutzch arrive in Salsorme.
A Rustbulj's church is toasty
A A fire breaks out outside of the Church of Cristos in Salsorme, Rustbulj's place. It is not a huge fire, but it burns vociferously and much of the establishment is damaged. Many of the contents of the church are fire damaged, however Jarrys's quick thinking allowed 'Resist Fire' spells to be cast and the Quest related papers were saved. An investigation by the town guard establishes that a person answering the description of Halonafen Dorf was seen in the area shortly before the fire broke out.
A It looks as if Modo will be going on the expedition to Torlich
B Various items have been tested and identified, and affairs are put in order
A Lucius recieves a note from Modo, which suggests that he is coming.
B Various items have been tested and identified, and affairs are put in order.
A The group depart Salsorme with Modo and his entourage
A The group arrive at the Seaguard to find Grayam and Modos personal cook Huerequeque have already taken over a smart area of the ship. The crew seem a bit unhappy about this. Modo arrives at the last moment in a very ostentatious coach. He asks Huerequeque to make brunch for everyone. Lucius takes Modo to one side and asks him to take it easy.
A During the night Vesquer looks at the stars to see if he can get a clue if the ship is being followed. Vesquer is of the opinion that we are being hunted and that the ship will be attacked before the full moon.
A The 'see in the dark' watches are set as Lucius and Gianticus until half way with Whyrvan and Modo on the later watch.
A A spy announces himself
A Early in the morning Modo sees a crew member juggling daggers on the prow of the ship. He approached the guy and is gobsmacked to discover that it is none other than Wirth M'Travers! It turns out that he is employed by Connel to spy on the Party. There is much reminiscing of the days when he went under the name Kneebone.
A During the night Ralpere looks at the stars, however Vesquer, flushed with success takes a nights sleep.
A Discusions with Worth lead to nothing
A Discusions with Worth lead to nothing
A Preparations to protect, and depart from the Seaguard
B Sahuagin attack
A Marinan, a seaman adventurer whom the group have taken on as a guide, reports that the ship has passed Connelburg. Willan asks Marinan to inform him when to ask the captain to let us off, so that he has time to maneouvre the ship appropriately. Whyrvan swims off to find dolphins, but can't.
A Karrak casts four 'Magic Mouths' on the hull. They will go off if a Sahalagin touches the hull.
B During the night Lucius notices that the front of the ship is on fire. He shouts and soon everyone is on deck. The fire seems to be unusually fearce, exactly like the fire at Rustbulj's church. The ship is peppered with crossbow fire. Ralpere, Whyrvan, Lucius and a sailor are hit.
B Vesquer casts 'Affect Normal Fires' on the conflagration. Polvyr casts a spell. Woden casts 'Pyrothechnics', after which only Willan, and Woden, can still see! More crossbow bolts fly in and Willan, Modo and Brutzch are hit. Willan shouts that everyone who can't see should hit the deck. Everyone except Willan and Woden hit the deck! The starboard 'Magic Mouths' go off. Willan moves to the stern.
B Luicius is able to see again and rushes off to put on his armour. The head of a sahalagin appears over the edge of the boat, Willan severs it, but not before the sahalagen stabs him with a trident.. A few sailors have regained their sight and are trying to put out the remaining fire. Guerin engages a sahalagin and Lucius rushes in to help.
B Whyrvan hears a voice shout for the sahuagin to get away from the ship. A faintly glowing sphere appears arround Jarrys. Guerin, Lucius and Whyrvan attack the sahalagin on the deck who is trying to get away. The sahalagin is killed. Whyrvan mentions what he heard.
B Vesquer casts 'Rope Trick', shouts 'Up here' and disappears up the top of the rope. Woden follows him up the rope, then Brutzch.
B Polvyr, as an owl, sees a ring of sahuagin armed with crossbows breaking up around the boat, there are several humaniod shapes in the water nearer to the ship. He lands back on the boat and announces the location of the humanoid shapes. Whyrvan realises that Polvyr is describing an Algoid, which is a colony of algae which will attack anything that goes in the water.
B A bit of 'Curing' goes on. Lucius can see sahuagan followng far off the stern of the ship, whilst Whyrvan sees a manta ray in the water near the front of the ship. Lucius goes to fetch his short bow and fires at them. He misses, and they disappear.
B The remainder of the night passes, tense, but uneventful.
A The Party leave the Seaguard after engaging Wirth to find information in Kirk
A The group use the attack as an excuse to leave the ship. The ship continues for the rest of the day and Marinan points out a good anchorage. The group bid farewell to Wirth and engage him to find information about Fafahel and the necromancer who lived there when he reaches Kirk. Wirth asks for 500sp down and 500 on delivery. Willan offers 700sp now and 500 later for top class information. The Party are taken to shore and set off to make camp at the top of a cliff.
A The Party travel towards Seahaven and make camp
B The camp is attacked by lizardmen
C Whyrvan, Huerequeque and a depressingly long list of items are 'Fireballed' to death
D Whyrvan recovers
E Whyrvan and Karrak swear loyalty to the Quest on Tarsober
F Huerequeque is buried
G The group arrive at Seahaven and make camp a couple of miles inland
A At breakfast 'Arry checks out the Seaguard and the area ahead. Wirth is still on the ship.
A The group set off to hike along the cliffs to Seahaven. There are some ruined buildings, notable only by their lack of notability. Vesquer acquires a 'mule', but later it leaves. At the end of the day Marinan estimates that about 15 miles have been covered, so there are only about 5 miles to go. A camp is set and watches established. First watch is Lucius, Giganticus and Polvyr, second watch is Modo, Grayam and Whyrvan and third watch is Willan, Brutzch and Guerin.
B During the third watch, all the watchers simultaneously notice that they are being attacked. A rain of misiles descends from all sides. Willan shouts "Incoming". The camp starts to stir and Guerin legs it towards the enemy. He shouts "Lizardmen". Woden gets himself together quickly and casts "Entangle"
B Giganticus, Willan, Whyrvan and Marinan head into the combat. Two lizardmen cut off Willan and engage him. Karrak 'Magic Missile's a lizardman fighting Giganticus. A large golden eagle takes off. Giganticus hits the magic missiled lizardman, who is still standing. Guerin finally kills the lizardman who was 'Magic Missiled'
B The golden eagle, who we will call 'Polvyr', sees someone who is not a lizardman standing near the cliff edge. Polveagle swoops down towards the person, with claws blazing. Brutzch assists Whyrvan, who withdraws from combat. Brutzch is hit, but strikes back forcefully. Karrak 'Magic Missile's the same lizardman. It's dead. The combat is joined all over the place.
C A 'Fireball' goes off in the middle of camp. There are bodies all over the place and the area of the camp and a number of people are on fire. Jarrys gulps down a potion. Lucius rushes in to the conflagration and hauls up Grayam and Karrak and gets them out of the fire area. Woden helps Lucius to put out the fires on Grayam and Karrak. Jarrys is ministering to people whilst on fire himself. Modo hurtles off in the direction of the Fireball and sees a huge golden eagle attack an area where there is nothing. Brutzch downs a lizardman. This is too much for them and they start to withdraw. Marinan and Willan are still engaged.
C Willan kills both of the lizardmen the he was fighting. Marinan is not fareing as well, many helpers move in. One of the remaining lizardmen runs away and throws himself from the cliff. Guerin finnishes off the other one. Calhassan examines the bodies. He 'Lays hands' on Karrak and Grayam who come round. Sadly Whyrvan and Huerequeque are dead. The entangled lizardman are captured and Woden attempts to interrogate them. They hiss and snap angrily.
C A considerable number of items have been destroyed by the fireball. Coffchomi has lost the powerfull 'Dispel Magic' scroll from Kimba's house in Salsorme, a scroll of 'Protection from Undead' recently acquired from Bryn the Necromancer, another scroll and three potions, including a potion of 'Resist Fire'! Woden lost a scroll of 'Resist Cold', Calhassan lost a block of power enhancing insense and a couple of potions. Vesquer discovers the charred remains of '101 Embarrasing Facts about Hobbits', the 'Oil of Timelessness' from G'throns temple and a couple of other items. Willan lost his 'Polymorph Self' potion from G'throns temple. Whyrvan has lost his 'Spectral Brew', not that he will be bothered by this.
C Polvyr reports that the human who cast the Fireball immediately disappeared. He was wearing armour and a cloak and did not look like a magic user. He cast the spell from a wand.
D Jarrys confers with Willan because he has a 'Raise Dead' scroll that Nalin acquired from Ertlelm. They have a discussion concerning the use of the spell. Should it be saved for someone important, or should it be used now for the first person who died. After a brief discussion they return and Jarrys raises Whyrvan from the dead.
E Willan explains to Whyrvan what has happened and asks that he swear loyalty to the Quest on Tarsober. Whyrvan agrees and successfully makes the oath. Karrak asks if he can take the oath, after consideration of his background Willan offers him the sword. Karrak sucessfully takes the oath. Giganticus wants to take the oath, but Willan thinks that he is not ready.
F As they have seen Whyrvan be raised fom the dead Willan thinks that the Lizardmen should be released so that they can spread the word. When they are let go they move quickly to the coast and swim away to the north. The group bury Huerequeque some distance from the battle site and set off towards Seahaven.
G One arrival in the environs of Seahaven Polvyr flies off to reconoitre. The village seems largely deserted, except for a tak of Connel soldiers. The group decide to head inland and find a good campsite. Willan finds a good spot but no one is sure how good it is tactically.
G Some effort is put in to make the camp more secure, some traps are set and a 'Magic Mouth' is set by Karrak. In the early evening Whyrvan, Grayam and the magic users go to sleep. Watches are set 1. Lucius, Giganticus, Marinan. 2. Modo, Raplere, Guerin. 3. Brutzch, Polvyr, Willan.
A The camp is observed by a druid
B Whyrvan scouts Seahaven
C Fording the Stormwash
A During watch number three Polvyr notices a person who looks like a druid standing near a tree observing the campsite. Brutzch wakes up Woden who goes into the trees and commences his morning druidic ritual. By this time the druid has melted back in to the trees. Polvyr turns in to a wolf and lopes over to where he saw the druid. He picks up the scent and follows it until the trail dissapears after about 50 yards. In his wolf form Polvyr circles the camp to check for scents. Vesquer is woken up and sends 'Arry up to scout. 'Arry can see a wolf. 'Arry also circles the camp a couple of times, but all seems quiet.
A At Willan's suggestion Polvyr leads Willan, Whyrvan, Lucius and Woden search the area around where the druid disappeared. Willan is fairly sure that the druid cast 'Pass without trace'at this point. It looks as if he was heading for Seahaven. Polvyr turns back in to a wolf and follows the druid trail in the other direction. He follows a fairly straight trail into to dense woodland, but does not come across anything. Polvyr returns to the camp.
B At breakfast Jarrys cures Grayam and himself and moans that other clerics are not curing. It is decided to make Whryvan 'Invisible' and send him to check out Seahaven. The group move with Whyrvan to about a mile from the village and take up a vantage point as Whyrvan sets off to the village.
B Whyrvan swims across the river and waits until he has dripprd dry. He moves around the village, it doesn't take long to establish that the village has only a few villagers left and that the guards are not happy with their duty to guard them from the sea creatures. Whyran checks out some houses but there is nothing in them so Whyrvan returns. 'Arry the Hawk flies around to see if he can see the tower, but all he sees are fishermen.
C The group decide to move upriver to find a place to cross. The river is crossed and the group scramble up the steep northern bank and in to the trees.
