.. and Riasc counselled that Gamlich should be destroyed forever before he could use his powers on the town of Jollwater and thus confirm his entry to this world. By this he planned to force the Demon's entry to the world early so that he could perform the slaying. Nyall was initially reluctant and counselled destroying the temple. Riasc concurred and the two warriors stormed the temple. Bael was struck by Mengros' great power and shortly slain his acolytes fled before the keen blades. Then again the heroes debated since the summoning was not far done. Nyall and Fearno consulted the books and Fearno found the true name of Gamlich.

However, Gamlich had already heard the summons and was listening to the temple for Bael's gate to open. Riasc bade Nyall to speak this name and complete the ritual to bring the demon forth so that they could slay the beast. Nyall counselled they rest the night so that Mengros could regain its power.

Morning found Nyall still cautious but Fearno was given to support Riasc so that it might imbed its holy self and rip the flesh of the demon. In the cold morning light the warriors finished the summoning and bared Mengros and Fearno to face the terror. They drew no circle no pentagram to keep the terror at bay for they were to fight. So stood the great warriors as Nyall spoke the Balrog's name. And Gamlich came towering over the heroes. Forced back by the aura of Nyall and Fearno and blasted by Mengos' lightening he was angered and greviously hurt but as the two closed he used the terrible powers infested in him. Riasc died in his flames screaming as Nyall was racked by his sword.

So the valiant ones perished and their souls taken to abyss but Gamlich was stopped by Gabriel who appeared in all his glory to preserve their souls and take them to paradise. Thus Gamlich was annoyed and prepared to vent his fury on the fallen swords. But they were good and the light of their power prevented even the Balrog from harming them. So Gamlich hid them deep in the earth beyond the great halls of Carysic and guarded them with a great labyrinth. Angry with Tayell he bound him to guard…..

For now Bael was no more and his power was broken. After Gamlich had been forced back to the abyss by Gabriel he sent Tornsor to Humos with the star of the seven firmaments. Humos recognised his masters sign and began to summon the source of the silver collar with his new found power. However the power was too great and an explosion racked the kingdom of Desus. Thus Humos is laid low by the crash but the evil is not entirely gone for the star was not destroyed in the conflagration. Humos now lies in ruin in the plane of Caro and his servants search for the star.

From the Naga's Lair - 1 July 1580??

The Star of the Seven Firmaments is the centre of the summoning ring and was for long times the source of the power of Bael a powerful demonist who for a long while posed a threat to the land of the seven families who held sway over the Joll. It is tied to the removal and distortion of reality and to the abyss. It gives the wearer an improved invisibility at will and may make permanent any illusion cast by the wearer. The star itself will weave great spectral forces at the wearers command.

However, to reveal its true might it must be placed in a cauldron of black lead wrapped inside the stomach of a virgin sacrificed to Gamlich. Other elements are needed in the brew and the star is then powered by eating the stomach. The being who does this now gains for him and him alone the full powers of this device. It puts the wielder in a permanent shield and globe of invulnerability. It may gate one of the lesser demons at will each day and hold it to service.

The key power of the star is its relation to Gamlich. If Gamlich is summoned and the ceremony of Arak-ra made Gamlich will be able to stay upon the earth. With the star on him it is said that not even Gabriel could force him back to the abyss without mortal combat and Gamlich would wreak great havoc on the earth while the combat lasted. With the star cemented in his hand he would be able to defeat Gabriel and extend his power over the earth - with Gabriel dead to the world no Deva or force of good could dispel him…..

The Lay of Colomnis

This text is a written verse form of a song called the Lay of Colomnis, a hero from long ago. Most of the song refers to the life of Colomnis which consists of several heroic deeds killing Giants, Dragons etc.

Colomnis wedded twice. To Isfirstemerch, "whose hair smelt of rowan and looked like September leaves " and Coloffwy "with dark and imploring eyes which filled the heart with longing." Isfirtemerch was apparently slain by a wizard whose plans Colomnis had foiled. Colomnis thus swore

For ever whilst my hand grips my sword I shall pursue the vile warlock till his head is boiled in my hearthside fire.

On his way to kill this wizard he is befriended and betrothed to Collofwy. She warns him not to continue his task for "This warlock will eat your heart for his future." Colomnis is determined to get his revenge and thus perishes killing the wizard in the process.

The last lines say

Collofwy cried for her husband slain and proudly found the place. And thus she took her grooms remains and lay them in the ground. 'I call this place Alnircolo following the lost tongue and one day another man shall come. Farchnohls they will name him and he will sing this lay. Thus my husband will complete his task and finally rest in peace.'

After singing this Collofwy rent herself with her groom's sword and fell into the grave.

Targlir Overlord of Laosin 1224

Cerelonin is now confirmed dead. He was investigating the old wizard's tower of Granfordir. He was instructed not to take undue risk but was often guilty of foolhardiness. I recommend that we do not investigate further until we have a better idea of its nature. My son is interested in this and is determined to search for further information.

Goresk Overlord of Laosin 1246

So I, the overlord, entered a cavern full of white pillars. Nascram searched for nearly two days to find a way further but he found it and opened the way. As he did a burst of light engulfed him and he died. Fortunate indeed that I had followed his advice and did not enter the room whilst he opened it. Thus I Bestig and my 20 men entered the secret rooms. We passed into a room where as the seer warned us 3 demons appeared - but they let us pas when we spoke the words. We continued along the corridor and passed into a new chamber. I sensed that the door led to importance. As I opened it though an enormous blast filled the room. As the smoke cleared I saw my men were all dead and Bestig and I were sore wounded. Creatures then appeared from the walls but Bestig put forward the power of Holy Dargth and drove them back. We could not leave for rock had blocked the passage. We stayed there for several hours. Bestig having to use his powers against these creatures several times - we were in no state to fight them. After too long the block shifted and thus I am able to write this. Bestig died several weeks later and I fear a curse is on us. I shall never enter that accursed place again.

Manahail - Seer to the King of Vanlies 1364

The wizard Zarl-Kruger built his tower in the inhospitable wastes of the far western mountains. He had with him some ancient artefact of power that allowed him to suppress his opponents. He lived on it is said for near a century. Legend says he was killed by Colomnis mac Rolgund but since Columnis never returned to Vanlies nobody was ever sure. Certainly all records speak of the wizard defending his tower with great care, furnishing it with many traps and gates to the servants of hell. The Overlord Goresk attempted to penetrate the tower but his force of several knights and other warriors was totally wiped out - Goresk died soon after of the curse that is reputed to last with the tower.
